Abstract

In this work Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) experiments were conducted based on the L16 orthogonal array are carried out on inconel 718 material using 99.9% pure copper electrode tool material with kerosene as a dielectric fluid to discuss the effect of five process parameters pulse on time (TON), pulse off time(TOFF), current(A), flushing pressure (P) and electrode tool geometry(Geo) on the process responses of material removal rate(MRR), tool wear rate(TWR) and surface roughness(SR) and all data’s are optimized using multi objective optimization technique of  Grey relational analysis(GRA). Experimental results show that the current and pulse on time are most influencing parameters that are directly proportional to MRR and inversely proportional to TWR, SR. The Rectangle tool geometry was found best in all aspects.
